Leiðar is Old Norse for the North Star. The ancient Vikings used the Leiðar star to navigate their ships. Leiða (femininum of leiðr) means 'to lead' or 'show the way', while leið means 'path' or 'way' in Old Norse.

For centuries, the North Star (Polaris) has helped navigators and travelers figure out their North to reach their destination. Since ancient time, humans have observed the stars, the sun and the moon and the planets, through which civilizations through millennia have formed their understanding of the cosmos, shaping their worldview - a process which may lend itself as a vantage point when reflecting upon paradigms and paradigm shifts in both science and our increasingly interconnected world.
